Who is jude in the new testament in the bible?
Jude is another form of the name Judas. There are several people named Jude or Judas in the New Testament. The three I remember are:
* Judas Iscariot
*** One of the 12 apostles. (Mathew 10:4)
*** The one who later betrayed Jesus. (Mathew 26:24-25, Mathew 27:3)
* Judas son of James
*** Another of the 12 apostles (See Luke 6:16),
*** Do not confuse him with the traitor Judas Iscariot. (See John 14:22)

* Jude (also known as Judas):
*** Author of the Epistole of Jude. (See Jude 1:1)
*** Brother of James (writter of the Epistole of James, leader of the Church at Jerusalem) (See Jude 1:1)
*** He was not one of the 12 apostles, he did not believed in Jesus prior to the cruxifiction and resurrection. By the time of Acts chapter 1 he and his brother James become believers. See Acts 1:14
*** One of the brothers of Jesus (See Mathew 13:55, Mark 6:3). Christians have different opinions on what "brother" here means:
****** some think Jude (or Judas), James and the others were sons of Joseph (who the jews thought was the father of Jesus) and a previous wife.
****** some (like me) think they were sons of Joseph and Mary, and that they were born after Jesus. Brothers of Jesus because were sons of the same mother. We not see at the Bible any requirement from God to Mary prohibiting having sexual relations and kids with Joseph, her husband. Mary's mission was to be Jesus' mother and took care of Him until He could take care of Himself. Having other kids does not interphere with her mission.
