Like Why
why do people like running?
i'm a runner and i just wanted to know why other people like running. i like it because it helps me sleep a night and it helps relieve stress from schoolwork. it also helps me stay in shape and in the summer i get a real nice tan. and does anyone have any personal stories from high school cross country experiences? or even marathon or half marathon stories? and who is your biggest inspiration?
I wouldn't say I really enjoyed the running itself (sometimes i hate it), but I love staying in shape and getting exercise. I feel so great after a run. It also helps me sleep well. I love cross country because of the people. Just this morning my team ran to a local park, and since it was the last day of summer practice, we just played around on the jungle gym and had fun. I've met a lot of people from cross country. And it just feels rewarding to push myself and congratulate myself after a race or a long run. I'm definitely not the best or fastest runner out there, but focusing on personal improvement is enough for me. :]
Edit: Oh, right, i forgot about my biggest inspiration. I'm really inspired by J.R. Celski. He's an Olympic speed skater, not a runner. But he still inspires me because he worked so hard to recover after a terrible injury to his leg not long before the Olympics. And it paid off. :]
