Is Sylvia Browne a trustful psychic? ?

In one of her books, 'Prophecy', in the political section, it was read that Obama (His name was not mentioned, simply 'the next president (2008)') is going to die in office, and, that his vice president was going to lodge a war with Korea.
Anyone?
Sorry. I'm slightly gullible, and that's due to the fact I read too much.

She didn't name him because the book came out years back, i'm sure. If that's not the reason, i'm not sure what is.

First of all, plenty of studies have been done to see if proclaimed psychics possess a stronger ability to predict outcomes than the general population. It turns out, the only difference is their belief in their ability, their 6th sense (otherwise known as intuition) is no better than that of the general population; neither in coin tosses, nor murder investigations.

As far as Sylvia goes, she wrote that book in June 2008... it's called a hunch, predicting what will happen between now and 2012 takes a little bit of reading, keeping current on politics, social trends, change in philosophy, and reading the emotional reaction people are having to all of this.

Now, anybody who stays on top of what's going on in the world could tell you, we have escalated our issues with North Korea, in Palestine and Israel, in Iraq, in South America, etc. etc.. as well as much of the middle east. it goes on and on. We've weakened ourselves economically, militarily, and we've lost a lot of support and faith in our stability from the international community.

As far as NKorea, Kim Jong-il, the dictator of North korea was dropping nuclear bombs in 2006, and the Bush administration decided to pull them off the naughty list in exchange for a report. That's weird considering the very fundamentals of their secretive stalinist dictatorship naturally oppose the ideas that preserve our own? They have nuclear bombs now, so, that adds a rosy optimism to the foreign relations between two fundamentally opposed governments. And, by the way north korea has been making muffled threats since 1948, before Sylvia new what N Korea was; they have been steadily growing their army, their nuclear programs, and testing nuclear weapons as of 2006, just two years ago, right about the time we started looking the other way.

I don't know what our soon to be vice presidents feelings are on this, but I wouldn't be surprised if she didn't have some insight into the general attitude of our senate on the matter.

As far as the prediction about the president, their was a good chance for that either way. It was clear even a year ago, that the president was going to be a woman, a "black" man, who would not be supported by 40% of the population, (that population being less educated, more fundamentally religious, and if not really rich with a lot to lose from a change in power and ideology, then very uneducated and conservative in thought, that or an infalliable allegiance to reaganomic perfection that supercedes humanitarian ones.) or a conservative man with 60% of the population stewing with distrust, hurting economically, losing homes, and a feeling of oppression caused by the disregard of votes in 2000 and 2004, the tightening of laws that would jeapordize the rights of women, minorities, immigrants, and citizens in general. There was a good chance to begin with, with the country seeming so polarized, that at least one individual from one side or the other would attempt something desperate. So we have both the national and international threat right now. Not to mention all of our presidents who we're radically liberal during extreme polar divide time have been assassinated.

By the way, as far as specifics, some of the things she's claimed are pretty ridiculous. Here's an example: in 2024 acid rain will become a regular part of our weather ecology... that was recognized in the 1960's, when along with the loss of the black forest in germany, the disappearance of aquatic life, and other ecological losses, it was so intense that the paint began running off the bodies of cars, and we had to develop a new kind of sealant.

It's obvious her predictions are only as valid as her understanding of the topic and it's research trends. Contrary to popular belief, acid rain was a term coined 50 years ago, and has been diminishing since. A logical thought though, environment, earth, global warming increases, therefore all forms of pollution increase, ...rational, but not informed.
